About Cinnamon (Sticks & Powder)

Cinnamon comes in two distinct commercial varieties: Ceylon (Cinnamomum verum) โ€” the true cinnamon โ€” and Cassia (Cinnamomum cassia / aromaticum) โ€” the more common, pungent variety. Both serve different markets and applications. India supplies both from established production regions.

SV Botanica supplies both Ceylon and Cassia grades in sticks, quills, and ground powder. For EU buyers concerned about coumarin levels (EU Regulation EC 1334/2008), we recommend the Ceylon grade which has near-zero coumarin. Cassia grade is preferred for standard food manufacturing applications requiring bold flavour.

Why Indian Cinnamon

Ceylon cinnamon has near-zero coumarin โ€” critical for EU food safety compliance where Cassia coumarin limits apply. US and Middle Eastern buyers often prefer Cassia for its bolder, more pronounced flavour. We supply both and can provide coumarin test reports.

Origin & Traceability

Ceylon grade sourced from Sri Lanka and South India. Cassia grade sourced from North-East India and Indonesian Cassia. Coumarin test reports and origin certificates provided on request.
