What is Tulsi Extract?

A standardised adaptogen active from Ayurveda's "Queen of Herbs"

Tulsi (Ocimum tenuiflorum L.), or Holy Basil, is among the most revered plants in Ayurveda, where it is known as the "Queen of Herbs" and used as a classical rasayana and adaptogen for immunity, respiratory wellness and stress balance. The leaf is rich in triterpenoid acids, rosmarinic acid and an aromatic essential oil, and concentrated, standardised extracts let formulators deliver those actives at a controlled, verifiable specification.

The characteristic constituents of Tulsi are its triterpenoid acids — notably ursolic acid and oleanolic acid — together with rosmarinic acid, eugenol, ocimumosides and a broad flavonoid and polyphenol complex. SV Botanica standardises this extract to ursolic acid of not less than 2.5% by HPLC, so every batch is defined by its most meaningful marker rather than by colour alone. Polyphenol-rich and full-spectrum (native-ratio) grades are also available.

The extract is finished as a free-flowing powder, brown to greenish-brown in colour, with a cold-water-soluble grade offered for beverages and teas. Slight colour and aroma variation between batches is normal for a herbal material and reflects natural variation in the raw leaf.
