It confirms the compound is present at the stated level. It does not establish that the material is mango leaf, because mangiferin is made by several other plants, some of them commercial sources of it.

The Line to Add

"Botanical source verification: profile corresponds to Mangifera indica leaf reference."

This is the line most mango leaf certificates lack, and the one that answers the question the assay cannot.

Ask that verification be based on the supporting profile — isomangiferin ratio, gallic acid derivatives, flavonoid and benzophenone pattern — rather than on the mangiferin peak alone. And note the honest limitation: on highly purified grades there is less profile to compare, so at 60% assay the analytical verification weakens and supply-chain traceability has to carry more of the load.

Leaf Maturity

Declared per batch. Mangiferin varies substantially between young and mature leaf, so an undeclared maturity is an uncontrolled input hiding behind a constant assay figure. Detail in our variability guide.

Residues: The Section to Read Closely

On most botanicals, pesticide screening is a routine control. On mango leaf it is doing real work, and here is why.

Mango leaf is a by-product of intensive commercial fruit cultivation. Orchard spray programmes target fruit pests and diseases and are designed against residue limits for fruit. A leaf is a different matrix with different residue behaviour, and it was never the crop being protected.

There is a specific reason to care here beyond the standard one. Mango trees are widely planted along roads and boundaries, and leaf gathered from roadside trees carries elevated dust and traffic-related exposure. Orchard-sourced material with declared cultivation status is the controllable option, and the heavy-metal panel is where careless collection would show.

Scope it as more than an assay. An independent mangiferin figure confirms the number and leaves the origin question exactly where it started. Ask for a profile comparison against Mangifera indica leaf reference, and put residues in the scope if the material is EU-bound.
