Omega-3 Fish Oil

EPA + DHA Concentrate Molecularly Distilled TG & EE Forms TOTOX Tested
The world's most clinically studied nutraceutical ingredient, supplied in triglyceride and ethyl ester forms across a range of EPA:DHA concentration ratios.
Omega-3 fatty acids are classified as essential because the human body cannot produce EPA and DHA from simpler precursors in meaningful quantities — they must come from diet or supplementation. Marine-sourced omega-3s from fatty fish are the only reliable, concentration-proven source of preformed EPA and DHA that the body can use directly, without the inefficient ALA-to-EPA/DHA conversion that limits plant-based omega-3 sources (flaxseed, chia).

SV Botanica supplies pharmaceutical-grade fish oil concentrate in four EPA/DHA grades, processed by molecular distillation — the only purification method capable of removing mercury, dioxins, PCBs, and other persistent organic pollutants to below detectable limits while preserving full fatty acid integrity. Every batch is tested for TOTOX value (freshness), fatty acid profile by GC, and full contaminant panel before release.

  • Oxidative stability is the whole game — mixed tocopherols at 0.1–0.2% are added as standard, drums ship nitrogen-flushed and light-protected, and temperature-controlled shipping is recommended. Refrigerate on receipt and minimise headspace after part-use.
  • TG versus EE form — the triglyceride and ethyl ester forms differ in processing route and in how the finished-product declaration is written. Confirm which your specification requires; they are not interchangeable on the label.
  • Grade selection by ratio — 18/12, 33/22 and 50/20 describe EPA/DHA percentages. Specify the ratio your formulation targets rather than a total omega-3 figure, since the same total can be reached at very different EPA:DHA splits.
  • Contaminant specification — lead NMT 0.1 ppm, mercury NMT 0.1 ppm and arsenic NMT 1 ppm, tighter than the powder range in this catalogue, reflecting the marine source.
  • Odour and format — the characteristic fish odour carries into unencapsulated formats. Softgel encapsulation or a flavoured emulsion system is the usual route for consumer products.
  • Bulk formats — 25 kg and 180 kg food-grade drums, nitrogen-flushed and light-protected, with IBC available for large-volume orders.
  • Moisture — specified at NMT 0.1%, materially tighter than the powder actives, as water accelerates oxidation in the oil.
  • Documentation — each batch ships with a CoA covering EPA and DHA content, the heavy metals panel including mercury and arsenic, moisture at NMT 0.1%, peroxide and anisidine values where specified, and the TG or EE form declaration.

Quality Assurance

Purity, Freshness & Full Traceability

Fish oil quality is uniquely complex — it requires testing for oxidation, contaminants, and fatty acid potency simultaneously. We do all three on every batch.

01

Molecular distillation

Removes mercury, PCBs, dioxins, and other persistent pollutants to below detection limits while preserving fatty acid integrity.

02

TOTOX & freshness

Peroxide Value (PV ≤5), Anisidine Value (AV ≤20), and TOTOX (≤26) tested per GOED standard on every batch. No rancid oil.

03

GC fatty acid profile

Full fatty acid composition by gas chromatography — confirms EPA%, DHA%, total omega-3, and absence of trans fatty acids per batch.

04

Contaminant screening

Mercury (NMT 0.1 ppm), lead, arsenic, PCBs, dioxins, and furans — tested and certified clean before every shipment.

Formulator's Guide

Choosing the Right EPA/DHA Grade

The correct omega-3 grade depends on your target health benefit, capsule size constraints, and cost positioning. Here is how each grade is used in commercial supplement formulations.

18/12 Grade

EPA 18% · DHA 12%

Natural concentrate — closest to natural fish oil fatty acid profile. Economical entry-level grade for general omega-3 supplements. Requires larger capsule sizes (1,000–2,000 mg softgel) to deliver meaningful EPA/DHA doses. Standard softgel fish oil.

33/22 Grade

EPA 33% · DHA 22%

Standard pharmaceutical concentrate. Delivers a combined 550 mg EPA+DHA per 1,000 mg capsule. The industry benchmark for labelled "500 mg EPA+DHA" softgels. Ideal balance of concentration, cost, and bioavailability.

High-EPA 50/20

EPA 50% · DHA 20%

Concentrated high-EPA grade for formats where EPA is the primary active. Allows high-dose EPA delivery in standard softgel sizes. Used in Rx-adjacent products.

High-DHA

DHA ≥40% · Low EPA

DHA-dominant grade for prenatal supplements, infant and children's formulations, and cognitive health products where DHA (not EPA) is the priority active. Available on request for large volumes.

An 18/12 concentrate (EPA 18% / DHA 12%), a 33/22 concentrate, a high-EPA 50/20 grade and a high-DHA grade at DHA ≥40% on request, in triglyceride (TG) and ethyl ester (EE) forms. Custom ratios are available.

Against your specification and volume. Concentration ratio, TG versus EE form, antioxidant system and pack format all move the price.
