- Refractive index 1.40–1.70 and specific gravity 0.92–0.97 — note turmeric oil is denser than most monoterpene-rich oils; its sesquiterpene-ketone chemistry sits it near 0.95, and a reading far below that suggests dilution with lighter material.
- Appearance: yellow mobile liquid, characteristic odour — with natural batch-to-batch colour variation expected and stated.
