On this ingredient the meaningful qualification question is narrower than country of origin. It is whether the manufacturer has HPLC fingerprinting capability, because that single capability determines whether they can detect the adulteration this ingredient is known for. That capability exists at the serious end of the Indian manufacturing base and does not exist everywhere, and it is worth qualifying for explicitly rather than assuming.

What This Means When You Buy

  1. Do not shop on headline price. Input costs are similar across suppliers; a materially lower quotation reflects something other than raw-material advantage.
  2. Qualify analytical capability first. On this ingredient it is the primary differentiator and the primary safety control.
  3. Treat the allergen question as a compliance requirement, not a quality preference — in both the EU and the US.
  4. Expect supply stability, not supply responsiveness. Volume is steady but cannot expand on demand; contract accordingly for large requirements.
  5. Ask about ochratoxin as a handling proxy. It tells you about the pomace chain in a way an audit certificate does not.
  6. Match the grade to the application. Cosmetic, oligomer-enriched and standard grades are genuinely different products, and the cosmetic market's requirements differ from the supplement market's.
