What Is Cranberry Extract?

How to Specify Grade: Four Commercial Families
"Cranberry extract" spans genuinely different materials, and the most common sourcing error is not stating which one you want:
- PAC-standardised extract β assayed for proanthocyanidins by BL-DMAC, the grade for the urinary-tract-health category and for any product built to the 36 mg-PACs-per-serving market convention.

Buyer tip: a PAC percentage without a named method is not a specification β it is a blank cheque. BL-DMAC, gravimetric and catechin-standard DMAC assays read several-fold apart on identical material, and the cheap quotations in this market are cheap precisely because they quote a gravimetric number against your BL-DMAC expectation. The Two Questions That Define a Cranberry Purchase
First: which method is the PAC figure measured by? If the answer is not "BL-DMAC with a procyanidin A2 standard, stated on the CoA", you cannot compare the offer against any other, and you cannot do the 36 mg arithmetic for your finished product.
Second: how is the A-type profile verified?
