India's most versatile bulk carrier oil — available in high oleic (HO) for maximum stability and standard linoleic grades. The most widely used affordable cosmetic and food carrier oil globally, with excellent skin compatibility, neutral profile, and competitive pricing at scale.
Sunflower Oil (Helianthus annuus) is one of the world's most commercially important vegetable oils — and in cosmetics, it is the most widely used affordable carrier oil base. It is available in two distinct fatty acid profiles: Standard sunflower oil (high linoleic, 55–70% linoleic acid) and High Oleic sunflower oil (HO sunflower, 75–85% oleic acid) — a cultivar-specific variety bred for enhanced oxidative stability.
SV Botanica supplies both grades — high oleic sunflower (the industry-preferred cosmetic grade for its 18–24 month stability) and standard linoleic sunflower (for high-volume applications where turnover is fast). Both refined and cold-pressed grades available. Organic certified grade available for COSMOS formulations.
High oleic sunflower offers argan-comparable oxidative stability at a fraction of the cost — the most practical choice for high-volume cosmetic formulations requiring shelf life.
Extremely gentle, hypoallergenic, and suitable for all skin types including sensitive, baby, and reactive skin — no known sensitisation risk.
The lightest skin feel of any oleic-rich carrier — virtually weightless, zero greasy residue, fast absorption.
Natural tocopherols (Vitamin E) in sunflower oil provide additional antioxidant protection and contribute to shelf stability.
High oleic sunflower oil's value is primarily in its oleic acid content and natural tocopherol level:
| Oleic Acid (C18:1) — HO | 75–85% — skin emolliency, stability, penetration |
| Linoleic Acid (C18:2) — HO | 5–12% — minor skin barrier support |
| Palmitic Acid (C16:0) | 5–8% — minor saturated emollient |
| Tocopherols | ~600–700 mg/kg (HO) — very high natural Vitamin E |
| Linoleic (Std grade) | 55–70% — high skin barrier activity |
| Phytosterols | Beta-sitosterol — anti-inflammatory |
| Squalene | Trace — skin smoothing |
High oleic sunflower sits between argan and standard sunflower — excellent stability at an affordable price point:
| Oil | Oleic Acid (HO) | Skin Feel | Best Known For |
| HO Sunflower (HO) ★ | 75–85% | Very light | Best stability/price ratio |
| Argan Oil | 43–49% | Silky, light | Tocopherols, premium positioning |
| Standard Sunflower | 5–10% oleic | Very light | High linoleic, affordable |
| Grapeseed Oil | 12–25% oleic | Very light | High linoleic, ultra-neutral |
| Sweet Almond | 62–68% | Light, medium | Classic massage base |
Always specify HO (high oleic) or Standard when ordering — they are different products with different performance profiles. HO sunflower is the industry standard for cosmetic formulations requiring stability. Standard sunflower is suitable for fast-turnover products or where high linoleic is specifically desired. HO requires no additional antioxidants for 18–24 month shelf life.
Sunflower oil comes in two distinct fatty acid profiles depending on cultivar — specify grade when ordering:
Key bioactive compounds beyond the fatty acids:
| Tocopherols | 600–700 mg/kg (HO) — one of highest among carrier oils |
| Phytosterols | Beta-sitosterol — anti-inflammatory, barrier |
| Squalene | Trace — skin smoothing |
| Wax esters | Minor — contribute to skin feel |
We supply Sunflower Oil in High Oleic (HO) cosmetic grade and Standard linoleic grade — both refined and cold-pressed available.

Always use HO (high oleic) grade for cosmetic formulations requiring >12 months shelf life — standard sunflower oxidises quickly. HO sunflower is arguably the best value premium carrier for high-volume cosmetics. Tocopherol content in HO grade is naturally very high — additional antioxidants generally not needed.
Sunflower Oil (High Oleic) is supplied in food-grade, light-protected packaging.
10ml–100ml amber glass vials for evaluation and stability testing.
Amber HDPE or dark glass containers with tamper-evident caps.
Food/cosmetic grade HDPE drums with tamper-evident seals. Standard commercial pack.
Intermediate bulk containers for large commercial orders.
Store in cool (below 20°C), dark conditions away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep containers sealed — rosehip seed oil oxidises rapidly on exposure to air. Nitrogen blanket packing available on request to maximise shelf life. Recommended shelf life: 12–18 months from date of manufacture when stored correctly.
Minimum Order Quantity
Sample orders from 10ml. Trial orders from 1 kg. Commercial orders from 25 kg. IBC (180–200 kg) for high-volume buyers. Custom packaging and private-label bottling available on request.
