India's most iconic natural oil — lauric-acid-rich coconut oil from Kerala's coastal plantations. Available in Virgin cold-pressed, RBD refined, and fractionated MCT grades for food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and personal care applications worldwide.
Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) from Kerala's coastal plantations is one of the world's most commercially important vegetable oils across food processing, cosmetics, personal care, and nutraceuticals. Its high lauric acid content (45–53%) gives coconut oil its characteristic solid-at-room-temperature state, documented antimicrobial properties, and distinctive tropical aroma.
SV Botanica supplies three commercially significant grades: Virgin Coconut Oil (cold-pressed, full-fat, coconut aroma intact), RBD Coconut Oil (refined, bleached, deodorised — white, bland, stable), and Fractionated Coconut Oil / MCT Oil (liquid at all temperatures, concentrated C8/C10 medium-chain triglycerides). India is a top global coconut oil supplier with Kerala's coastal estates providing premium consistent quality.
Unique clinical evidence for penetrating the hair shaft — reduces protein loss from bleaching, heat damage, and repeated washing. The most scientifically documented oil for hair protection.
Lauric acid converts to monolaurin on skin — natural broad-spectrum antimicrobial. Used in acne, eczema, and fungal skin condition topical formulations.
C8/C10 MCTs provide rapid energy without fat storage — the primary ingredient in ketogenic nutrition, sports energy, and bulletproof coffee formulations.
RBD grade with high smoke point — cooking oil, bakery shortening, confectionery coating, and industrial food manufacturing ingredient.
Coconut oil's high medium-chain saturated fatty acid content is the key driver of its unique functional properties:
| Lauric Acid (C12:0) | 45–53% — antimicrobial via monolaurin; documented hair shaft penetration |
| Myristic Acid (C14:0) | 16–21% — skin feel, soap-making, emulsification |
| Caprylic Acid (C8:0) | 5–10% — MCT; rapid metabolism, antimicrobial |
| Capric Acid (C10:0) | 4–8% — MCT; energy substrate, antimicrobial |
| Oleic Acid (C18:1) | 4–8% — minor unsaturated fatty acid component |
| Polyphenols | Present in VCO — antioxidant activity in unrefined grade |
| Tocopherols | Trace — natural antioxidant |
Coconut oil is unique among vegetable oils for its high saturated fatty acid content, led by lauric acid — compare it to understand its distinctive profile:
| Oil | Lauric Acid | Skin Feel | Best Known For |
| Coconut Oil (VCO) ★ | 45–53% | Rich, slow-absorb | Lauric acid, MCTs, antimicrobial |
| Palm Kernel Oil | 45–52% | Rich | Similar lauric profile, less sustainable |
| Fractionated (MCT) | C8/C10 only | Very light, dry | MCT, keto, exceptional stability |
| Jojoba Oil | Wax ester | Dry, non-greasy | Stability, all skin types |
| Sweet Almond | 62–68% oleic | Light | Emollient, massage, gentle |
Use Virgin Coconut Oil for maximum hair and skin actives with characteristic coconut aroma. Use RBD for neutral-scent and food applications requiring consistent colourless, odourless oil. Use fractionated MCT for any application requiring liquid coconut oil at all temperatures throughout the year. Coconut oil's high saturated content gives excellent oxidative stability — no antioxidants needed for RBD grade.
Coconut oil is dominated by medium-chain saturated fatty acids — giving it properties very different from most other vegetable oils:
Beyond the fatty acids, key cosmetic actives in the unsaponifiable fraction:
| Polyphenols | Present in VCO — ferulic acid, caffeic acid; antioxidant |
| Phytosterols | Beta-sitosterol, campesterol — anti-inflammatory |
| Tocopherols | Trace Vitamin E |
| Squalene | Trace — skin smoothing contribution |
We supply Coconut Oil in three commercially important grades — Virgin, RBD, and Fractionated MCT — from Kerala's premier coastal production region.
| INCI Name | Cocos Nucifera Oil |
| Botanical Source | Cocos nucifera |
| Origin | Kerala, India |
| Part Used | Kernel (copra / fresh) |
| State at 25°C | Solid |
| Melting Point | ~24–26°C |
| Specific Gravity | 0.908–0.921 g/ml at 40°C |
| Saponification Value | 248–265 mg KOH/g |
| Iodine Value | 7–12 g I₂/100g (very low — reflects high saturation) |
| Free Fatty Acids | NMT 0.5% (VCO); NMT 0.1% (RBD) |
| Shelf Life | 24 months (VCO); 36 months (RBD) |
Coconut oil is one of the highest-volume natural oils globally — used across food, cosmetics, personal care, nutraceutical, and industrial applications worldwide.
Deep conditioning treatment, pre-wash treatment, and hair mask base — the most scientifically proven oil for hair protein protection.
VCO for dry skin, eczema, and body moisturisation — antimicrobial properties help with skin infections.
RBD grade as cooking oil, shortening, bakery fat, confectionery coating, and food processing ingredient.
Fractionated C8/C10 for ketogenic products, bulletproof coffee, sports nutrition, and rapid energy supplements.
White VCO as base for lip balms, lip glosses, and lip butter formulations.
Primary fat for cold-process and melt-pour soap — creates hard, cleansing, lathering bars.
VCO as moisturising base in sugar and salt body scrub formulations.
RBD and fractionated MCT as carrier for pharmaceutical preparations and drug delivery systems.
| Application | Recommended Level | Grade |
| Hair mask / pre-wash | 50–100% | Virgin cold-pressed |
| Skin moisturiser | Up to 100% | VCO or RBD |
| MCT supplement | Up to 100% | Fractionated C8/C10 |
| Lip balm | 20–40% | RBD |
| Soap making fat | 40–100% | RBD or VCO |
| Cosmetic formulation | 5–30% | RBD |
VCO solidifies below 24°C — account for this in formulations and packaging design. RBD remains white solid below ~25°C. Fractionated MCT stays liquid at all temperatures and is the grade of choice when liquid coconut oil is required year-round. Both VCO and RBD have excellent shelf life without antioxidants due to high saturated fat content.
Rosehip Seed Oil is supplied in dark-glass or HDPE packaging to protect against oxidation. Nitrogen-flushed packaging available for premium unrefined grades.
10ml–100ml amber glass vials for evaluation and stability testing.
Amber HDPE or dark glass containers with tamper-evident caps.
Food/cosmetic grade HDPE drums with tamper-evident seals. Standard commercial pack.
Intermediate bulk containers for large commercial orders.
Store in cool (below 20°C), dark conditions away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep containers sealed — rosehip seed oil oxidises rapidly on exposure to air. Nitrogen blanket packing available on request to maximise shelf life. Recommended shelf life: 12–18 months from date of manufacture when stored correctly.
Minimum Order Quantity
Sample orders from 10ml. Trial orders from 1 kg. Commercial orders from 25 kg. IBC (180–200 kg) for high-volume buyers. Custom packaging and private-label bottling available on request.
